Stains on Teeth

Stains on the teeth or discoloration or stain is a pigmented deposits on the teeth. In children is usually caused by poor oral hygiene and bacteria. While in adults is usually caused by eating habits of tea, coffee and tobacco.

Color stains on your child's teeth

• Orange or yellow. The stain is caused by poor oral hygiene - do not clean your teeth after eating or drinking milk. This stain found on the cervical third of the crown of the tooth crown of the front and back teeth. But can be cleaned by brushing with a fine. If oral hygiene is still not maintained then the stain will reappear and can lead to plaque. Even if left unchecked can cause caries.


• Chocolate or black. Most numerous in the lingual or back teeth and the front of the neck of the tooth. This stain can occur because of deposition of pigment from bacteria contained in pellicle that coats teeth. Colors brown or black stains can be removed by scaling and polishing, which can only be done by a dentist.

Maintain hygiene and dental health!

1. Brush teeth at least twice a day after meals and before bed

2. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles and the appropriate size with age
