Some foods contain substances that are needed by the body, such as carrots are good for the eyes and the milk is good for bone strength. But you know good food to improve brain performance?

Here are eight types of food that is good for your brain according to Kelly Aronica, a nutritionist at New York, as quoted from the daily meal, Thursday (04/05/2012), among others:

A. Vegetable juice

Green vegetables such as broccoli and spinach, contain antioxidants that are important to health because it can counteract free radicals that can cause brain damage. To get these nutrients from leafy greens, you can consume in the form of juice.

2. Avocado

Foods such as avocado or olive oil contains unsaturated fats that can help minimize the loss of memory in the brain.

3. Salmon

Omega-3 fatty acids contained in fish, salmon is not only beneficial for the heart, but also can help improve learning and memory function in the brain.

"Eat salmon once a week can help prevent Alzheimer's disease because the number of salmon has omega-3 fatty acids high," says Aronica.

For you are vegetarian, you can get the same benefits by eating soy-rich vegetable fatty acids.

4. Carrots

Vitamin B is contained in carrots, spinach, red peppers, and squash can help produce chemicals in the brain known as neurotransmitters.

"The nervous system relies on neurotransmitters to deliver messages in the brain, such as that regulate mood, hunger, and sleep," says Aronica.

5. Yoghurt

Yogurt contains vitamin B12 which is often referred to as "vitamin memory". This vitamin is usually only found naturally in animal foods such as cheese, salmon, shrimp, and beef.

6. Spinach and kale

"Leafy greens such as spinach and kale are the main food for brain health," says Aronica

Spinach and kale contain vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are very high influence on the strength of mind and brain.

7. Green tea

Green tea is not only a source of antioxidants, but also contains caffeine which is good for improving cognitive function, focus, and concentration.

"Caffeine from green tea is better and healthier than coffee," says Aronica.

8. Eggs

"Choline is contained in the yolk, forming the neurotransmitter acetylcholine is the brain that affects memory," says Aronica.
