Do not Give Sugar and Salt for Food Children Under 1 Year

That children love all kinds of food, especially vegetables, then do not teach the child to know sweet and salty flavors early on. Before the age of 1 year, no need to add sugar and salt in the diet of children.

"The critical point is when the child ate feeding of breast milk(solids)," explained Dr. Fiastuti Witjaksono DR, MSc, MS, Sp.GK, clinical nutritionist from the Department of Nutrition School of Medicine, RSCM, in the Media Education 'Identify the type of additional sugar, Index and Glycemic Load and Its Impact on Children! 'The Energy Cafe, Jakarta, Thursday (23/02/2012).

According to DR Fiastuti, teach children to eat varied food, meet with one on one but it turns to all the food, because none of the nutritional content of food is perfect.

At that critical period, before the 1 year olds do not need to add sugar and salt in food. Introduce a sense of sugar and salt too early on can make a child 'craving' (craving or desire continuous) with a sweet or salty foods, which can adversely affect health.

"Let the children feel the natural flavor of food without sugar and salt.Let him feel the taste of natural fruits, natural milk or chicken flavor without salt," said DR Fiastuti.

No consumption of sugar and salt habit early will not make a child picking out food, especially foods that are considered healthier.

"How many children are not fond of vegetables? Because his parents had taught the sweet food from small, while the vegetables were bland taste so kids do not want to. If he is not accustomed to eat the sweet little, he will not be picking out food," lid DR Fiastuti.
