Too Old 'Browsing' Cause Memory Weakens

Internet era is on the one hand makes it easy. However, if too long mingle with the world, memory impairment becomes a threat.

Recent technological sophistication was led to ease in many ways. See, now everything is connected by the Internet so as to provide every individual in the smooth conduct of activities. Unfortunately with such ease, internet opium which ultimately undermined their memory.

The researchers found that widespread use of the data search engines and online databases store affects people in remembering information.

To determine the tendency of people in remembering information Betsy Sparrow, assistant professor of psychology at Columbia in collaboration with Daniel M Wegner of Harvard and Jenny Liu of the University of Wisconsin, Madison who conduct research experiments on memory, as reported by the New York Times and was released the Times of India.

In one experiment they, the participants were allowed to type in the rate of 40 bits per trivia. There, the team found that subjects are more likely to remember information if they later find it again.

"Participants did not make the effort to recall when they think they can find a trivial statement as she read," they wrote.

The second experiment aims to determine whether the computer affects the speed of information on what a person remembers.

For example, when asked whether any countries have a flag only one color, then the researchers began to see whether the respondent was immediately mobilized his brain to remember about the flag or immediately think to look in the internet only.

In this case, participants were asked to remember either the questions themselves and include also the five folders on the computer. The researchers were surprised because they found that people seem more able to remember it by looking in the computer folder.

"It is very stomping my mind," said Dr. Sparrow.

The experiments explore aspects of what is known as transactive memory in which presents the idea that someone accustomed to rely on family, friends, and coworkers as a reference material for storing information.

Internet effects on memory remains largely unexplored. Dr Sparrow said, that experiment led him to conclude that the Internet has become the primary external storage systems.

Human memory, he says, is to adapt to new communication technologies
