Vitamin C is a
nutrient that is crucial to the body's function, as Vitamin C has many health
benefits such as boosting immunity and prevent colds. Lack of vitamin C have
been linked to many diseases and health problems.
The most common
diseases caused by vitamin C deficiency is scurvy that occurs because the body
lacks collagen as a result of low levels of vitamin C. Researchers have also
been studying the link between vitamin C desifiensi with neurological problems.
The study was
conducted at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and the results recorded in
the Journal of neurochemistry edition in October 2012, as reported by NaturalNews,
Tuesday (12/18/2012).
Researchers
used the test on mice that had been genetically engineered to turn off genes
that normally regulate the intake of vitamin C. Rats can live healthy again
after receiving vitamin C with ascorbic acid (AA) in ekstrenal.
But for the
purposes of this study, the researchers created a period in which investigators
late to give AA in rats. Before and after that period, researchers took blood
samples and observing their behavior patterns. At the beginning of the reduced
AA in the body, the mice suffered depression and impulse behavior strong to eat
more foods that contain glucose.
After the mice actually
lost AA for the second time, mouse blood samples showed a decrease in blood
glucose, lipid and protein oxidative damage in the cortex, and a decrease in
dopamine and serotonin metabolites in both the cortex and striatum brain. In
other words, this suggests that neurological damage has occurred.
Problems
neurological, physiological and psychological extremes due to lack of vitamin C
are gradually improved after vitamin C requirement is met by increasing intake.
Drugs are the simplest is to increase the consumption of foods containing
vitamin C such as oranges, lemons, limes, cabbage, cauliflower, asparagus,
broccoli and more.
In addition to
the above, the body of a lack of vitamin C can also be characterized by the
following symptoms:
1. Chronic lack of energy, weakness and depression
Lack of vitamin
C can even affect bone strength. Low levels of vitamin C may also lead to
drastic weight loss.
2. Bleeding gums, teeth, or gingivitis
This occurs
because the body lacks the collagen necessary to build and maintain teeth and
gum tissue. Vitamin C is needed by the body to synthesize collagen.
3. Changes in mood
People who lack
vitamin C, easy mood swings, easy emotion, and irritability.
4. Skin bruising
The skin is
easily bruised and takes a long time to recover, it could be an indication of
lack of vitamin C. Slow healing of minor wounds naturally by the body also
showed that the levels of vitamin C in the body is inadequate.
5. Joint pain
Joint pain or a
chronic leg cloth signs that indicate that a deficiency of vitamin C. Sometimes
severe scabies can also cause bleeding in the joints and cause unbearable pain.
6. Anemia
Anemia is
another sign of a possible lack of vitamin C. People who lack vitamin C is also
easily fall sick because their immune system is weakened.
