Fever Good For Children Health as Aids Infection Fight

Parents of first-time parenting is often absurdly anxious to find the baby fever or high body temperature rises. Though it's not worth worrying about. Fever is part of the process of development of the child, even a child can be regarded as a friend.
"Fever is important because it helps children fight infection. Fever can help children recover more quickly, especially if he is battling a virus. Parents need not be too concerned if their child had a high fever," said Hannah Chow-Johnson, assistant professor in the department of pediatrics at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, as reported by Medical Daily, Tuesday (11/20/2012).
According to Chow-Johnson, fever is the body's way to fight infections and parents are not able to lower the body temperature increases. To help the body fight infection, let your child get plenty of rest while still delivering the drug.
Furthermore, Chow-Johnson has some guidelines how to care for the child during the fever, that is:
- If the child is sleeping, let him sleep
- Use a digital thermometer to check the temperature or conventional. Check once a day is enough
- Give the child plenty of fluids. Do not give too much fruit or apple juice
- Wear clothing that is light on the child
- Give fever-lowering drugs only when necessary. Do not mutually drugs because they can cause an overdose which can be very dangerous.
New fever needs serious attention and need medical treatment if:
- Children younger than 8 weeks and have a fever with a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius
- A child's immune system weakened by chemotherapy.
- Fever lasts for 2-3 days and showed no signs of pain, runny nose or cough
- A fever lasts more than 5 days should be examined by a doctor, even if the child's condition looks better.
